Purple peace and pretty purchases...

Dear readers,
I thought we might talk cushions for a moment.
Cushions, I confess, is one of my weaknesses.
Cushions, I would insist,
(although some family members, strangely, seem not to understand this...)
you simply cannot have too many...
I say this, as I tend to make most of them myself,
re-using the inner pillow and often using scraps of fabric to make the cover.

Like the peace sign cushion here...
...made from an old purple top of mine that was past its glory days in fashion, to put it mildly,
together with a peace sign cut out of some linen fabric and then painted with a thin layer of metallic paint, just to give it a modest shine, make it come "alive"...

But here comes confession time.
Cushion confession, that is.
See the other two patterned cushions?
Well...

If one happens to fall head over heals in love with a cushion one happens to see on the cover of one of one's favourite Norwegian magazines, Vakre Hem, and one then by complete coincidence happens to stumble across those very cushions at half price on a work trip to Sweden, one wonders if, perhaps, one is not meant to, maybe, well... buy them?

Well, one did.

And one is quite happy one did.

The sofa in the TV room (our TV is hidden away in one of the cupboards under the stairs) is now a little more colourful than before, and together with the fairy-light-stuffed ex-greenhouse heater in the fireplace, and my beloved, cheerful ceiling light, this window-less corner now seems a little bit brighter!

Wishing you a bright and colourful Sunday!
Love,
Helena

  1. Thing about cushions is... I agree - you can't have too many! :)

And whith a neutral over all decor, cushions and throws can cange the mood in an instant - without costly redecoration, or reupholstering of furniture.

I've found myself drawn to muted yellows, recently. Maybe a longing for spring daffodils and sunshine? And only two cushion covers ( in unique flee market material) among my neutral colored ones, give just enough colour to make me smile!

Purple is not quite my cup of tea, but I love it in your picures!

    inspired greetings, Ingela

    1. Hej Ingela,

  4. Gu' så duktig du är Helena!!! Vilken ursnygg peacekudde du sytt!!! Å de andra. Snyyyyga....... En lite lila touch och voila. Mycket fint kuddhav i soffan.

Not funny.

  7. Hehe, you're so right, Helena! My hubby believes too, that we've absolutely enough cushions... but one can't have enough of them. I've already bought some new fabric to give some self sewed cushions a try :o). Your living room looks wonderful and so cozy!
    Have a nice Sunday!

  9. Dear Helena, you are not the only one who has weakness with cushions! I share your thoughts and must admit that I have atleast 30 cushions.. and think that a girl can not have too many of them ;)

    Soft and cosy Sunday!

  10. Love the purple, love the cushions! Your peace sign is different than what I've seen. That one looks like the Mercedes Benz sign. Is that customary in you country? Our peace signs have another 'leg'. Well, it's all lovely anyways.

    1. Hi,

Yes, you are absolutely right, peace signs usually have another 'leg', and my cushion might, unintentionally, look like an ad for MB... :-) I was inspired by some "Peace Sign" cushions I have seen lately, which also had the third 'leg' missing, but I should probably have been clearer about that. Thanks for pointing it out!

      All the best,
      Helena

  15. I love to see cushions... but strangely I don't usually enjoy using them, I prefer to sit on a chair without. So they often end up on the floor :)
